The Christadelphian Meal-a-Day fund is a registered charity with the UK Charity Commission (Registered Charity Number 1133337), and fully adheres to all regulations governing charitable bodies in the UK. This allows you to give in full confidence.
Meal-a-Day is governed by a board of trustees (up to a maximum of 15 trustees at any one time) who are responsible for all areas of governance – from finance and project management through to marketing and compliance – and are the group who are ultimately accountable for the effectiveness and integrity of Meal-a-Day. All trustees are volunteers and are not paid for the work they do for Meal-a-Day.
We think it’s important that no one individual should have the ability to control Meal-a-Day. So all trustees are therefore required to retire by rotation over a four year cycle and are only reappointed if their skills and contribution remain appropriate to the work of Meal-a-Day going forward. This means that Meal-a-Day can continue to be effectively run, ensuring that we have the right people with the right set of skills focused on running the charity.
The finances of Meal a Day are handled by the Finance Director who is a trustee and supported by three volunteers who are members of the charity. This overcomes any issue with one single person being solely responsible for income and disbursements as is best practice. The accounts are fully audited annually by an external auditor. We value the external scrutiny of our accounts and they are released for public availability each year and following audit will be published on this website.
