Orphans International Development Project school
In 2003 CMaD helped two church workers each set up and run primary schools in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania. Peter Dunia runs the Samaritan School and Vincent Ibanje the Orphans International Development Project School.
One school is in the city and one in a more rural area. CMaD continues to be the sole funders of both schools. The children are mainly orphans – often as a result of HIV/AIDs – a huge problem in this area. They are given basic education, including English, Maths, Swahili, science and religious studies. Each day they also receive a nutritious breakfast. All receive a school uniform.
In 2007 Vincent’s school had 127 pupils and Peter’s 90. CBM visitors monitor the schools on behalf of CMaD. Both schools were recently visited by government inspectors and were given glowing reports.
