| DR Congo, Kinshasa feeding project KINSHASA FEEDING PROJECT –DR Congo
A group of church members in Kinshasa have set up a feeding project to help street children. In 2006 CMaD funded seven pedal sewing machines and some tables and chairs to enable some members and others in the ciommunity to gain income, some of which now finances the feeding project. CMaD has given support each year since then to supplement this funding provided by the members of the local church. The project also receives regular funding from individual church members from the UK
There are now about 50 children between the ages of 6-16 being supported by the project. Some education is now also provided - they are taught literacy, “civic notions” and Bible teachings. Meals include porridge, bread, rice and beans.
The project operates three times a week for four hours a day. |
